And with them comes the cold weather pests including:

Do you know what you could be doing to help prevent against these winter time pests from entering and infesting your home?
Brown Recluse Spiders
You will usually find the brown recluse spinning their webs in undisturbed areas, like crawl spaces, closets, attics, and basements. You may have already know that these spiders can not only bite but inject venom if threatened.
TIP: For brown recluse spiders, and any other pests- trim back all trees and shrubs away from the home.
Do not allow branches to hang onto the roof.
German Cockroaches
Cockroaches love a humans home, the food and moisture make it the preferred living space for them. They can mostly be found in bathrooms, and kitchens. Beware when bringing in boxes, and second hand items, cockroaches will often migrate into your home this way.
TIP: With cockroaches keeping it CLEAN and clutter free is the way to go. When cleaning do not neglect to wipe under appliances, or other areas they may hide.
Rats
Norway rats are the most common here in Southern California this time of year. Rats can chew through about any type of material, and carry various harmful diseases. Check the basement and attics often.
TIP: Rats can fit into extremely small openings. It is important to seal off any points of entry for rats, and other pests. Keep doors closed as much as possible.
House Mice
Mice are similar to rats in that they can chew through anything. They also carry diseases, often spreading Salmonella when they contaminate food.
TIPS: For mice you want to apply all pest prevention tips, keep areas clean, check for signs of infestation regularly, seal all gaps, and trim back shrubs. With rodents we stress that you not allow any branches to hang onto the roof, this gives them easy access into fireplaces, and attics.
