In Southern California swarmers are active from February till June.
Carpenter Ants Appearance
While carpenter ants are mainly black they can also be red, or a combination of red and brown. They average a size of 5/8”, oval in shape with 6 legs and have antennas. Carpenter ants can easily be confused with many other types of ants and may need a pest control professional to identify.

A way to tell if you have a Carpenter Ant problem is small wholes at the woods surface. The Carpenter ants will push out debris that consists of sawdust like shavings, and insulation.
