Flying ants are not seen too often but when you have a Flying Ant Infestation it can be an obnoxious Pest Problem.
Flying Ants are merely sexually mature ants. When an ant colony is ready the mature female, and male ants take off in flight with the purpose to mate. July, and August are the months in which an abundance of flying ants are seen throughout Temecula Valley. Ants mate during flight, (nuptial flight) this is the reason why ants fly. Many people confuse flying ants at this time to be swarmer termites, because of the similarities in appearance.
