TOP SIGNS OF TERMITES
TERMITE DROPPINGS aka. FRASS - Drywood produce droppings that resemble pepper. These wood colored droppings are problematic when found by a homeowner in a small pile. These small termite dropping pile is a red alert for a termite infestation.
WOOD DAMAGE - Termites feed on wood from the inside out leaving wood sounding hollow and brittle. If you spot blistering wood this could mean termites.
UNEVEN OR BUBBLING PAINT - Bubbling or uneven paint is not only a sign of termite but could also mean water damage.
DISCARDED WINGS OR SWARMERS - Young female and male winged termites are known as swarmers or reproductives. After the last freeze in the spring, swarmers will emerge to mate and search for a new location to start a colony. In doing so termite swarmers or their discarded wings appear around your home. This is often the first sign on a termite problem.
MUD TUBES - The most destructive of the termites is the subterranean termite. The subterranean termite will build mud tubes to protect them from the outside while they travel from their colony to their food source. You will most likely find mud tubes towards the foundation of a home.
